8.0.5.0.0 out of the box is fine on NT SP4+. Several of my customers has run that for years. Yes its old and yes it cost $$$ to upgrade and im just the techguy that would love to play with 9i but...
Its your NT installation. Had the same thing (blue screen) happen to me. Get at least SP4 if you can. Do a fresh NT install. Also try to get the 8.0.5.2.1 patch if you must run 8.0.5. Fixes bugs that does not have anything to do with your install problems, but more exotic stuff. (like grant select on a a view to a role, export and then the import will fail)
