I was expecting something more complex. This will not prevent ora-1555 at those times. I have no control over when users submit report jobs and this is a 24 hours shop.
I gather there is no 100% safe mechanism other than having lots and lots of rollback segments and make them real big. And that will only be 99.9% safe.
