The same here. 8.1.7 client on W2K happily talks to 8.0.6, 8.1.6 and
8.1.7 on HP-UX. The listeners are the same versions as dbs.
2Paul: it's _not_ silly to have different (and often desupported) version running and you gave some of the possible reasons for that. Frankly, I'm sick of posting "it's been desupported X years/month/minutes ago, rush to upgrade, why are you using an ancient thing". Why? Because. Because there may be other considerations apart of support.
