When I became interested in Oracle 7.3, I came to the realization that no one runs Oracle on WinNT, though it is happeneing more and more. I decided to buy an Ultra 5 on ebay and learn Solaris. A few years later, even though Oracle is becomming more prevelant on WinNT, I am very glad I took the time to learn Solaris (or any UNIX). I would highly suggest UNIX because the large shops use UNIX and the large shops pay much better. You can buy a Ultra 5 on ebay for about $500 now a days. It's worked wonders for me.
