We currently use Oracle 8.1.7 on all of our client machines. I just got a new machine and our IT dept installed Oracle 9i instead of 8i. Unfortunately, 9i was possibly having some type of conflict and IT decided to take off 9i and put 8i on the machine. Unfortunately, 8i wouldn't install and my computer is dead in the water for accessing our Oracle Server. Anyway, I've heard of uninstall/reinstall problems in the past but I don't remember the specifics. So, can someone recommend how I can get 8i on my machine without wiping the Hard drive and starting over. It took me two days to set up my new computer and I'd hate to go through that again.
