MS doesn't always eat its own dog food so to speak. For example, they have never used MFC to build their applications. Unless they ported hotmail recently it has been on UNIX since they acquired the company. MS often advertises for Oracle DBA's to help run their systems. If they wanted to learn more about Oracle to improve SqlServer they wouldn't need an Oracle DBA to do that.
