Andre,
There are several special procedures, actually, but if you know them everything winds up working OK. Examples of the special procedures include needing to pull in an old version of GLIBC (the Oracle installer works with 2.1, "no more, no less," but Mandrake 8 runs 2.2 currently) and making sure NUMLOCK is turned off (some important buttons in the Oracle installer won't work otherwise!). That NUMLOCK thing cost me an embarrassing amount of work (and time) the first time I tried this.
So what you need to do is documentation from somebody who's "been there, done that." The very good news is that such a document already exists! Check out http://www.mandrakeuser.org/docs/utils/uoracle0.html#toc1 before starting your installation. I strongly recommend you take the time to read the whole thing, and of course you should supplement the Mandrake-specific material in this document with the Oracle installation documentation.
Good luck!
Chris
