thanks for all the usefull input.

Replacing all the datafiles did help (which I did not know to do) although I had also done a bit of a Homer, on my recover until time statement I had the year set at 2001 ... doh! With the correct year and all datafiles the recovery worked fine.

I also take the point that in a live DB environ, the best option is to recover to a Prod db, and export the table out and into the Live DB.
