Hello -
First off: I am fully aware that Solaris Intel will be desupported by Oracle if it hasn't been so already. I wish to implement this arrangement - 8.1.6 on Solaris 8 Intel - for testing and learning purposes only, so support or desupport is a null point to begin with. My question: Can I use the Oracle 8.1.6 software that came complementary with the test version of Solaris 8 Intel? I have RTFM, and it makes mention of Solaris 7 in 1001 places, but never once says anything of Solaris 8. (Why in the world would they put a version of Oracle along with a version of Solaris Intel that don't work together??) Can someone please check for me the revelant Metalink articles to see if this arrangement is possible, as I have no access to Metalink?
Thank you very much, in advance,
