Hello...
Last night I was mad at Oracle 8.1.5 and Oracle 8.17.... Here is what I would like to narrate:::
I got this whole ZIP file from otn.oracle.com(linux81701.tar) for Linux. Being very careful, I follwed every step with caustion .. when finally I run the Installer ./runInstaller... there is no gui screen even after 2 hours.
So I borrow a 8.1.5 CD from and repeat the installation....Now, I could not get connected to sqlplus,,,says some libraries lib***so.8* missing..However I can get connected to svrmgrl.....
Then an idea struck me... Using the Universal installer from 8.1.5 CD and pointinig to8.1.7 files, I thought I wrap up the installation in no time,,but this message "this installation requires an installer 1.8.3.1.0 or high....
I commented out the installer paramater from one of the parameter file ,,but it is no good..
How I wish there is a ready-made product which takes care of the installation by itself?? Isn't software so advanced yet????
Please reply
Thanks
Jack
