It's actually possible to get in fairly inexpensively for specific non-commercial uses. I occasionally toy with the idea of exposing a simple Oracle DB on the open 'Net, just as a demonstration, so people'd have confidence they're attaching to something known to be good. 'Beats me why Oracle doesn't create such a demo itself.
