No, reinstalling is not what I would expect people to do in most cases,
however, based on the fact that the footprints we much smaller and that the
application was running before the bsod, reinstalling sounded like the
fastest option to get up and running.
I guess it really depends on how much time you want to spend on tracking down what the error is. My second reason for suggesting a reinstall is that this is a local install on a laptop, not a server machine and while it may be fun to track down what is happening for some people (myself included) others may just want it to work
