exporting database did not export default column values

Hi,

I moved a simple database the other day using Oracle 8i's export/import utilities from one instance to another. Everything was moved successfully (i.e. tables, data, constraints, etc.) except for default column values, which didn't appear in the new instnace. Did I miss a step in the process or is there something about default column values that Oracle doesn't do?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Default parameters were used for the export and import.
