Of course it is, I did it several times. But there are several points to watch out for:

  1. orainst is not y2k-compatible and you will get drwatson when you try to reinstall software, e.g. Forms45. Either turn your system clock back to 1999 before installing or remove/rename $ORACLE_HOME/orainst/nt.rgs before your 2nd install.
  2. sometimes the service for tnslistener will not be installed. You can do this manually with lsnrctl, I think.
  3. Forget O7. Use 8 or 9.
