We started having a strange problem where the oracle services won't respond to anything. All remote connections fail at the client side but the failed connections are not recorded in the listener.log. Neither is any error recorded in the database alert log (though log switches are, so the service appears to be running). Connect internal via sqlplus and svrmgrl on the server fail too. Attempts to stop the Oracle database service also fail. It's like the service is still running but refusing to respond to any requests. The only way to get things working normally is to use task manager to kill the oracle.exe executable and then restart the service. This database has been running for a year but this problem started happening about 3 weeks ago. Any ideas?
