While I fundementally agree with your statements, it is also not unreasonable
to contact the consultants and request a list of items that may, or even should
be, done prior to their arrival. Far too often have I seen consultants sit
around while the SA or others scramble to get things done that could have been
done ahead of time. Caveat - it must be done in conjunction with the
consultants; advice from the community at large will, almost certainly, go down
the wrong path as described. And if the consultant's requirements or
suggestions are not clear, double-check before implementing what you think they
need.
