svrmgrl..connect internal..on win2k

Hi -

I have Oracle 8.1.7 installed on Win2K server.

Here is what I did:

c:>svrmgrl
SVRMGR>connect internal
Password:

I entered the default sys password ( I haven't changed it yet) - change_on_install I got following response:

SVRMGR> connect internal
Password:
ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

Then I did this:

SVRMGR> connect sys as sysdba
Password:

I entered the default sys password ( I haven't changed it yet) change_on_install
Now I got connected successfully!

Connected.
SVRMGR> Why am I not able to connect with connect internal ??
