How do you use them in detail? Easy. You read the *very* extensive Oracle
documentation on both utilities, available at technet.oracle.com for free
(you have to become a member of the site to access the documents, but
membership is free and instantly available).
Next, you ask your boss why you are being dumped with a task for which you would appear, at this stage in your career, singularly unqualified.
Third, you go to the command line and type "exp help=y" (without the quotes of course) to discover all the command line parameters that can be specified (refer back to the documentation to find out what each parameter means in detail). You can also do imp help=y to find out the parameters that import uses.
And fourthly, you'll discover that a migration will go something along the lines of exp system/manager full=y file=something.dmp, whereupon you ftp the something.dmp file to the second machine, and run imp system/manager full=y file=something.dmp.
And the most important one of those four steps is number 2, closely followed by number 1.
