We have been using webforms in a variety of configurations, and your conclusion as to the reasons for the slow response time is a bit premature IMO. The typical problem when converting from Forms v3 is that old versions of forms is often not developed and optimised for reducing network roundtrips. There is really nothing the webserver/forms server can do about this. These problems which will be especially apparent on high latency and/or low bandwidth network connections.

BTW, it appears that Forms Server versions prior to 6/6i is better than later versions when it comes to reducing roundtrips...!
