Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Oracle 8.1.7 EE on Windows XP
Dear all,
I have just installed Oracle 8.1.7 EE on Windows XP Professional at home, so far it works quite well. One problem was jrew.exe crashed when creating the database during installation, the listener was not up, but I fixed it easily with lsnrctl.exe.
I am not sure whether Oracle will certify XP, but there is a good reason to do this. Windows XP Professional combines both the NT technology of Windows 2000 and the multimedia and networking capabilities (good for home) of Windows ME (and better). If you have only one computer at home, you can do Oracle and listen to cyber-radio at the same time and on the same box. Windows XP is easy to configure everything, you can save time, too.
What do you think?
