Memory in Windows---is 256Mb RAM enough for Win2k?

I recently had Oracle 8 EE on my PC but discovered after installation that it was using virtually all of the available RAM even when I started up the machine. Thus, any Java applications running on top were starved of memory.

My question is, what is the "realistic" minimum RAM on Win2k that is feasible?
