Are you sure you followed the instructions for glibc and java?

If you are in EURO-land, you have to get rid of the "@EURO" in your LANG 
like for me in Germany:

export NLS_LANG=german
export LANG=de_DE

For GLIBC you need the compat-packages menioned in the README on the RH-CD 
and the following settings:

export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5
. /usr/i386-glibc21-linux/bin/i386-glibc21-linux-env.sh

Last but not least you need a working JRE. I used the IBM-JRE but the 
original is working well too.

During the install of the enterprise-version, there was a compile error 
because the gcc can't compile one of oracle's tools. You have to patch the 
Makefile to use kgcc instead of gcc.

The final problem i had was that oracle needs the "ksh" which wasn't 
installed on my system.
