Galen's suggestion to create a materialized view for the 'base view' to be further queried is nice, but it's sad to find that 'REFRESH FAST' cannot be used when analytic functions such as SUM is present. 'REFRESH COMPLETE' seems to be unavoidable, this will still be much faster than the original 4 inline-views, though.
