risks? there's risks to patching?

There are an ubeilvable amount of risks it all depends on what type of patch/upgrade you are doing. It also depends on your OS as well heres some of my reccomendations

  1. Read the Readme
  2. Read the readme AGAIN
  3. Call support ( if you have it) to make sure there is no issues with thepatch 4 read the readme one last time.
  4. If you think its going to take an hour to do schedule a window for FOUR
  5. Follow the directions very carefullly

9 times out of 10 I have been succesful this way. Just do your research before hand and don't patch blindly...Oh yeah Take a cold backup of everything (including binaries) just before in case your really worried!
