export contents into a file w/o using export

Fellow DBAs,

is there a way to export the contents of a table to a file with a set delimiter (other than using spool)? I'd like to be able to select certain columns and pipe the result into a flat file. What I'm looking for are SQL statement(s) that would allow me to do this. I know in Informix, you can do an unload command, but I wasn't sure if Oracle had the same functionality.
