SQL DBA converting, needs help

All,

I bought a sunblade 100, damn tired of trying to load Oracle on NT. I have solid design and t-sql skills, performance tunning on ms-sql. I'm in the valley now, and most jobs are for oracle. Is the best experience, just to build or convert some databases I have from ms-sql to oracle? How else should I go about my training?

I'm sure I'll have many other questions in the next few months.
