    I've a database 8.1.6 with character set WE8PC850 and I want to change
it to W8ISO8859P1 I tried to make an alter database character set
W8ISO8859P1 but the system refused because tne new character set is not a
superset of the old one.



    Is it possible to change it without recreating the database ?
