I agree with Brian. We recently migrated from 7.3.4 to 8.1.7 with no
problem. We took the opportunity because we were upgrading the database
server from a puny Solaris box to a nice big one. We used export/import
to do it. Worked great, no problems. At the time, 9.0.1 wasn't
available, but even had it been, it's still too new, and we didn't want
to jump from 7 all the way to 9.
