No, I did understand his message. My statement that, "I used dbassist to create the database after the install completed" was meant to indicate I understood what dbassist did, as well as how to use it. I noted that I did two types of reinstalls (two seperate reinstalls) to indicate that the dbassist did not make a difference (after the install completed) in either case. Perhaps I was not very clear...

Also, the ODCA starts automatically once Oracle finishes installing. It does not ask if it should run or not; it launches after linking of the database is complete. I had to cancel out of it in both reinstalls. Once I canceled out of it, I ran the 'dbassist' from the $ORACLE_HOME/bin (and it stalled at the point I noted above).
