Nizam -

   You got to be serious if you are upgrading any database.

  1. First and foremost - RTF Migration manual.
  2. Read and re-read release notes and make sure you will not be hitting any known problems with the new release.
  3. Test a complete migration first on test box. Ask your dev/qa team to verify that everything in the app works fine.
  4. Backup the complete software and the database(s). Don't forget the /var/oracle@#$%@#$@ orainst.loc.
  5. There are lot of other things which couldn't be listed here - but hope these things help you to get started.

P.S: There is a serious bug ( which oracle calls silent DD corruption ) 
check out metalink there is a small test case which verifies for this.
