Hi,

I am trying to install a 8.1.7 Oracledatabase (with all default settings) on a Solaris machine....

The installation reaches 80% and then gives me the ORA-01034 Oracle not available error.

This means that either the environment variables or memory may be the problem...but my envirnoment variables seem correct and we modified the kernal according to the directions in the Oracle installation guide...

The alert files has the following:
Wed May 15:21:07 2001
Starting Oracle Instance (normal)
Wed May 15:21:07 2001
WARNING: EINVAL creating segment of size 0x000000000800c000 fix shm parameters in etc/system or equivalent

But we did fix the etx/system file according to the directions in the installation guide...can anyone please help!

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Thanks
Jaishni
