Oracle does a SHUTDOWN ABORT when NT shutdowns. It may crashed. You can check the Alert Log.
If Oracle safely shutdowned (normal, transactional, immediate), there would be a "Completed: alter database close normal" message, otherwise, Oracle shutdowned abort.

So, you'd better shutdown Oracle manually before you shotdown NT.

By the way, on the newer version, in the Oracle Administration Assistant tool you can choose the shutdown mode when service is stoped. However, it is not the shotdown mode when NT shutdowns. Received on Thu May 10 2001 - 04:09:06 CDT
