Hi all. I am having a problem with the install. I have downloaded the
817solaris.cpio.gz file from the otn.oracle.com website.
- I had to download it at home on my windoze machine and place it on a Jaz
disk.
- I brought the jaz in and placed it in an NT machine that has the jaz
drive shared. I then ftp'd it to the solaris machine. (I have tried it
normally and also by setting the ftp to binary).
- I then try to gunzip the file on the solaris machine and I get this
error. gunzip: 817solaris.cpio.gz: not in gzip format
- I have also used a SuSE linux machine to mount the jaz drive using samba
and copied it over to the linux machine using linux copy commands. I then
scp'd the file over to the solaris box. I get the same error when trying to
gunzip the file.
- With the file I copied over to the solaris machine from the linux
machine I could use unzip on it and it unzipped and produced a Components
subdirectory with a bunch of files and directories and a file called
stageInventory.ser. However this way I am not able to find the file
runInstaller at all.
- What the heck is up with the install documentation not covering how to do
the install from the downloaded file, and only covering the install from the
CD or the downloaded file not comming with some install instructions
pertinent to the downloaded version?
Well I am hoping someone here may be able to help me. Do you think it is a
corrupt file? I have downloaded the file 2 times now and both times it was
the same problem. Do you think the file is corrupt on the Oracle website?
If so who would I email?
Thanks
Michael
