Hi Jeremy.
I've been running 8.1.6 and 8.1.7 on WinBlows 2000 for a while now. I haven't run into any real problems and it does seem to be a bit more stable from an OS point of view (although I can still get printer drivers to knock it over). I haven't done any material speed comparisons, but from a subjective viewpoint they seem to be about the same.
Just my 2-bits worth.
