Oracle on Linux using raw partitions

Has anyone run Oracle8i on Linux(i386) v2.x using a raw disk partition as an Oracle datafile? A data file in Linux(i386) v2.x has 2G file size limitation. If the raw disk partition is used, does it has 2G size limitation any more?
