Deleting and Creating databases?

Greetings,

I'm painfully new to Oracle server. I installed the server that comes with the latest version of Solaris and had no problems. However I wanted to add a database and delete the one I installed when I installed Oracle server. Using dbassist I can created a new database and deleted the original one. Attempting to start the server gives these errors:

LRM-00109: could not open parameter file '/oracle/product/8.1.5/dbs/initORACLE1.ora' ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters

ORACLE1 was the instance of the database I tried to delete. It seems as though it isn't deleted as it keeps showing up in dbassist as an instance that can be deleted or modified.

How do I get rid of it and how do I create a new one?

Thanks in advance! (I'm going to Barnes & Noble tomorrow!!!)
