Yes, that's the one that freezes on start-up. It's an 8.1.7 Enterprise CD. I'm trying to upgrade from 8.1.6 release 2, currently installed on my dual Pentium III PC running Win2K Professional. Now this is not the first time an Oracle Java application has crashed on me, but the funny thing is that all the Java stuff of the currently installed 8.1.6, including Enterprise Manager and Universal Installer is running fine. I have a feeling that the problem with the 8.1.7 set-up may be down to the Java runtime. I just realized I have committed the sin of installed some older Sybase tools that include a Java runtime as well. I'll try the upgrade on another PC when I get back in the office on Monday. I was just wondered if there was an alternative installation procedure to the Java based setup.
