If you are running 8.1, then
create temporary tablespace TEMP
tempfile 'asdfasdfa' size XXXM reuse
uniform size XXM;
On recovery:
alter tablespace temp
add tempfile 'asdfasdfa' size XXXM reuse;
Otherwise your strategy of dropping and
recreating is the necessary one.
