Unix is really required for corporate
applications involving huge amount
of data and a lot of users.

For 10 GB of data with 10 users, NT/Oracle will be a very good choice.

Of course there are some inherent
advantages of Unix, namely, robustness
and stability among other things. However,Unix is going to be more expensive.

For reasonable size database with small number of users one doesn't have to use Unix, BT/Oracle or Windows 2000 and
Oracle will be OK.. For that matter, even NT and a SQLserver database may even be
a better choice.
