    The problem isn't with Oracle, but with being careful of any apps that refer to dates. For example if any tables have a date posted field that uses sysdate, what will you do about all the rows that are already filled in? And when daylight savings time comes, how do you handle the loss of an hour? Data B posted 59 minutes after Data A may show up in the database as having been posted before Data A. Perhaps none of your apps will be affected by changing the system clock, but you should be sure.

    By the way, as we've moved to apps that run internationally, we're storing all dates - in the database - as GMT. We can always decide what we want to present to the user at a particular location, but what's in the database itself remains consistent.
