Yes, sorry. This was a "hidden" follow up to a post / thread from yesterday calles "Oracle 8i startup problems", where I stated my configurartion.

I know that it should be fixed in 8.1.7.

But this is not an option for me at the moment. We have a complex application and as long as it is not approved to run with a new Oracle release I wouldn't use it.
And we know, how new Oracle releases reintroduce old bugs, or even new bugs.
