If I remember right, Steve Adams says UGA is a subheap of PGA in dedicated server configuration, and of SGA in MTS and XA configuration.

I don't see any problem with the two paragraphs you cited. But you seem to be confused about the difference between UGA and Sort Extent Pool. SEP only contains pointers or maps of the sort segments. Actual sort segments always reside in UGA (which, let me repeat, may be in PGA or SGA depending on whether you are in MTS). You won't confuse the small dot signifying New York City on your US map with the actual NYC, will you? Therefore, you would expect SEP to be quite small in size so it won't hurt to store it in the precious SGA. However, SEP is not shown in v$sgastat. Maybe in the next version of Oracle, it will?
