i strongly ask you to get 8.1.6 or 8.1.7. Download of Oracle 8.1.7 is free.

For Oracle on Suse see http://www.suse.de/en/support/oracle/ No shared memory patching. Works out of the box with standard kernel. I am running it on reiserfs with no problems.
