If you will permit a dissenting opinion; your actual results may vary.

I too dislike the "new and improved" service, and some (as in any organization) have a better attitude than others. It's been my experience that, for the most part, I am finding answers to my non-critical questions in the knowledge base -- without the hassle of phone tag. Secondly, I have found that my production-server calls are handled more readily than before. I appreciate their effort to control costs, as I have to weigh how to allocate my limited budget. We talked with Legato about after-hours (gold) support, and were quoted a four-fold increase (on which I passed).

I concur with Robert that their notification method could be more dba-friendly -- I presume that his tars request notification by e-mail rather than phone, etc. I sometimes request a phone callback, and that seems to never happen.

Members of the IOUG may, and should, direct these kinds of problems to the officers' attention; I feel there is some significant clout there that exceeds my individual nasty-grams to Metalink feedback.
