I have a similar problem with 8.1.6 EE, but here it is the OracleService<DBname> that remains in the "starting" state. It is not possible to stop the sevice.

The installation succeeds and Oracle runs fine until rebooted.

No error in the W2K log, and I am not Oracle-wise enough to know where to look in the Oracle logs.

Out of 5 servers Oracle runs fine on two, the rest gives the errors mentioned. Never thought of comparing SP level, but will ASAP.
