What is slow?  Do you only have 1 9 gig hard disk?  That would be a major
bottleneck.
Is the system swapping?
Is a particular query slow?
What is the explain plan?
What exactly is slow?
Rather broad question.  Did you set the _run_faster=true parameter in the
init.ora file?
