hi,
my personnal experience is that i've worked as a programeur for several
years (i've developed some applications under SQL*Forms, Access, Pascal
etc). the applications all run under Oracle database. so i've got much
knowledgements about it. and i've become a DBA this way.
for me, the courses are very helpful but not the only way.
if you know access, you can try to find a job in a client-server
architecture projet, with access-odbc-oracle technical environement. you can
work while learning about what's a oracle database.
