I hope you also got a big raise in the process. You are about to lose a lot of free time. I just had to call our SR DBA in from vacation to troubleshoot a problem we were having. We also get to do upgrades and maintenance on weekends (Life, What life?) I do not envy your position at all. Without someone to mentor you, you will have to learn a lot from all the manuals. See if you can at least get some basic oracle classes paid for by your employer or be prepared to read a lot! Good luck.
