Addition: and don't use front-end software on Oracle specifically developed for MS-SQL or Sybase, 'which can also run on Oracle'. It usually has no referential integrity defined in the database, and as to the specific case I have in mind the front end probably also has no integrity. At least, you are not expected to delete data, as the software can't cope with it. I'm currently investigating such a package, which is already being used by customer, and it is a *complete* (stress: *complete*) *disaster*.
