You are being difficult but I'll give you the answer you need to adjust your attitude:

  1. The developer of the Jet Engine in Access, now used in SQL Server left Microsoft early this year along with a few of his buddies and started his own company. I know because I did some consulting for him. His team's operating system? Linux. His team's choice of databases? Oracle and/or IBM's Universal Server.

Is there a copy of the product he created in his company? I'll let you answer that question.

2. How long do you think it will take a 16 year old to hack any SQL Server database residing on an NT platform with web access. Now answer that question with Oracle on Solaris or HP/UX.

3. How long do you think any SQL Server database getting a decent number of hits can run before the server needs to be rebooted? Now answer that question assuming Oracle on Solaris or HP/UX.

4 Why do you think that almost every dot.com on the planet ... from Amazon.com to Real Networks chose Oracle?

5. And finally, what database do you think really runs the operations at Microsoft? Do you really think Bill Gates would trust his fortune and his company to his own operating system and database?

Think about it.
